All of our volunteer events are open to children in grades K-8 (and accompanying adults), who have met the necessary pre-requisite requirements. In order to register for our volunteer events, students must have completed, or be currently registered for, one of our service-learning classes or one-day workshops on the issue that will be addressed by the volunteer opportunity in which the student wishes to participate. For example, students wishing to volunteer to serve a meal at the homeless shelter must have completed, or be currently registered for, one of our classes or workshops on Homelessness & Poverty. Completion of such class or workshop is a one-time requirement and will enable the student to register for any of our volunteer opportunities that involve that topic.
A KidzCare® USA volunteer staff member will be present at all events. However, in order to provide adequate supervision of all participating children, and to help foster a love of serving together as a family, it is our policy that a parent or guardian must remain with each child during our events. A parent/guardian may supervise a maximum of 4 children.
Most of our volunteer events are MCPS SSL approved. If child will need SSL credit for serving at one of our volunteer events, please contact us in advance to make sure that the event you are interested in is SSL approved.
