"I just want to say thank you for serving us dinner tonight. This gift you bring to us is greatly appreciated and goes a long way. You bring a sense of happiness and a warm feeling into my heart with your gift, and joy and harmony into my life. So thank you."

What is “Service-Learning” and how is it different from volunteering?
Volunteering, or community service, is a wonderful and vital part of our society that can help provide for a variety of societal needs. It differs from “Service-Learning” in that Service Learning is an educational strategy that goes beyond volunteering by aligning academic curriculum goals with students’ volunteer efforts. By combining service objectives and learning objectives, students gain enhanced understanding of academic course content, while applying that understanding to service projects that help strengthen the community and encourage civic engagement. For additional information about Service Learning, visit Learn & Serve America at http://www.servicelearning.org/what-service-learning. |
